"Richard Schikat, in the States billed Dick Shikat, lost the title in Philadelphia June 8, 1930, and Londos was crowned the new champ. Insider knew that Joe "Toots" Mondt decided, that Shikat lacked the color necessary to lure the big wrestling gates as they had now with many big names a new and prosperous era in wrestling. Besides this was Hans Steinke now the policeman for Jim Londos. Londos refused later to meet Shikat for a title shoot. This was the reason that they formed a new partnership in New York with Jack Curley, Toots Mondt, Rudy Miller, Strangler Lewis, Dick Shikat and Jack Pfeffer. This title bout was held up June 10, 1932, at the Garden Bowl, Long Island, and Shikat allowed Lewis to throw him, as he would get a return match in which he was to toss Lewis. But Shikat never got the promised return bout for the title. Both met later only in a one-hour time-limit match which was called a draw. Shikat was outfoxed and began to yelp for a real chance at the title. Lewis lost his crown eight months later to Jim Browning. It lasted until March 2, 1936, that Shikat had another chance to gain the world title. In the Madison Square Garden he defeated Danno O'Mahoney from Ireland. The latter was angry about referee George Bothner and his decision that he should have lost by pinfall. With the title was Shikat in a better position. "I am going to get as much for it as possible." And remembering to have been tricked before to sign that dumny contract, he continued: "Those fellows should watch my smoke now. I'm an my own!" Following was a Shikat-versus-the-mat-trust case before a court, but outside the ring, not the wrestler, the trusts were stronger. The mat moguls knew what would happen. April 24, 1936, lost Shikat his title at Detroit to Ali Baba, former U.S. Navy gob, named Harry Ekizian."
