To say that Roderick Strong was upset that he’s being forced into living up to the contract (http://rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=3258) for the March 20th main event in Mississauga, Ontario is a bona fide understatement. “I think it’s wrong,” said Strong. “I know that Tyler says what happened in New York was just business, but I don’t buy it. Cornette might buy it – that his “blue chipper” finally got it done in crunch time – but I don’t. Tyler doesn’t beat Aries if it isn’t for me, and he takes it for granted.” Black’s actions at the “8th Anniversary Show” have set off a chain of events that appears to have now had a direct impact on Ring of Honor’s debut in Phoenix, Arizona on March 26th and 27th.

“Tyler couldn’t beat Aries,” said Strong. “But I can. Tyler and I have gone back and forth and everyone knows I can beat him too. When I get my title match, I’ll prove it and finally become the World Champion I should have been three or four years ago.” Not everyone agrees. “Roddy is great,” said Tyler Black. “But our last three matches are even at 1-1-1. Not exactly domination either way. If ROH grants my request to honor Roddy’s title match, I’ll beat him and that will be that. Then it’s on to the other Pick 6 contenders waiting in line.”

Count Austin Aries among the detractors of Strong. “He’s the DEFINITION of ‘bridesmaid’,” said Aries. “He’s the only person in the galaxy that’s had more shots than Tyler at the World Title and failed. What’s he up to, twenty, twenty-five blown shots? And Black? He knocked in the winning run with a sac fly and acts like he broke Hank Aaron’s record. These guys may be great, but saying that Roddy or Black are in the same league as A-Double is like comparing Phil Mickelson to Tiger Woods. Sure, they sometimes win and sometimes look good; but the other is the man and, well, always gets laid. I get my rematch and when I do, the belt comes home and both of these toddlers can cry each other to sleep.”

While ROH officials have been rumored to be prepping an announcement in reference to the main event for “The Big Bang!” in Charlotte, NC on April 3, Roderick Strong and Tyler Black have been engaged in a war of words that has led to a personal challenge.

On March 26 and 27 in Phoenix, Roderick Strong and Tyler Black look to prove a point. On March 26th, World Champion Tyler Black will attempt to beat Roderick Strong and Austin Aries back-to-back in the same night, while on March 27; Strong tries his hand at Black and Aries. Aries, unexpectedly, signed on as the third man in the fold.

“If this doesn’t shut ‘em both up,” said Aries, “then nothing will. I signed on for a simple reason – beating these guys will virtually guarantee my crack at the title. I won’t be surprised if Roddy gets the first (title) shot at Tyler and wins, so when I beat them both in Phoenix I cement my place. And these two are too stupid to realize that my matches take place over two days, where they have to go one-after-the-other back-to-back in one day to get it done. Once again it’s advantage A-Double.”

The only question remaining is whether or not the World Title will be on the line when ROH rolls into Phoenix. ROH officials have yet to comment on the matter, only saying, “an announcement regarding Tyler Black’s first defense of the World Title is imminent.” If the gold is up for grabs, then this personal challenge goes onto entirely uncertain ground.

One thing, however, is certain: Black, Strong, and Aries will do battle in Phoenix. And title at stake or not, once the dust settles in the desert Southwest, the championship picture in Ring of Honor will be crystal clear. Can ‘One’ win ‘Two’ in the Grand Canyon State?
