When I was growing up my parents always told me that violence and fighting never amount to anything. They told me that using my words and my mind to solve conflicts was always the best way to go. Like with everything else in my life, I chose to believe them.

One day when I was in 8th grade, I got my first chance to put their theory in practice. A friend of mine was going through some rough times, his father having been diagnosed with cancer. But my friend was somewhat of a hot head and I guess he had gotten into an argument with another kid in our class. During math, that kid made a comment about my friend’s dad dying of cancer and since the comment itself came from behind him, my friend somehow came to the conclusion that I was the one who said it.

After class, when I got to my locker, I noticed a huge group had gathered around my friend. I made my way through to go see what was going on, only to end up face to face with my buddy, who was very upset. I didn’t understand what was going on when he punched me in the stomach but I knew this was my chance to talk and see how words could help solve a conflict. I asked him why he was doing this, and he replied by punching me in the face and on the head several times. This may actually be the very moment I realized I would make a decent wrestler since none of the punches actually fazed me one bit. I just kept asking him why he was doing this until he broke his hand on my head and left, crying. True story.

The next day, when I got to school, I was welcomed by several different people all telling me the same thing: ”Heard you got your ass kicked!”

Throughout the day I realized that while I had been made to look like a pussy because I chose not to fight back and try to talk things out, my assailant was made to look like a hero, with the heart of a lion.

That’s when I understood that while my parents are right, talking and using logical thoughts to solve a conflict is a much more effective way to go about things, it’s just not a realistic way of life in our world.

I’ve been fighting anyone that stands in my way ever since. And that’s why I did what I did at Final Battle. Sure, I could have tried to simply tell you I didn’t want to be your partner or your friend anymore, to leave me alone and never try to talk to me ever again but I figured that leaving a nice dent in your skull would really drive the point home. And for a while, I thought it had actually worked.

Two months went by without having to see your face. Besides Cabana’s constant nagging, I was living a dream. I had actually forgotten how good, simple and easy life was without you in it.

Then you started showing up during my matches…except you’re not trying to get revenge, at least not on me.

No.

All you do is stand there. And stare.

So I decided to give my parents’ philosophy another shot, and I tried to talk to you. I explained to you, very clearly, in Toronto, why I did what I did, hoping it was what you needed to finally just leave me alone. When you didn’t leave, I gave you the perfect opportunity to hit me. I even begged you to do so. But you didn’t do it. You had the chance in Phoenix again and you didn’t take it.

And I know why. Cabana may not understand but I do.

First, you know that if you lay as much as one little finger on me, you will start a war that you have no chance of winning. And second…simply put, you love me.

You love me like a loyal dog loves its master, don’t you?

Well, I’m going to try and make this as crystal clear as possible here. I’ve tried beating you up. I’ve tried talking to you. It didn’t work. Now I am writing this so that you can read it over and over and over again and get it into your brain once and for all.

I don’t need you anymore. I don’t want you around me ever again. Stay away from me.

I know Cabana is in your ear every minute of every day about this Saturday in Charlotte. He’s telling you what you need to do. He’s telling you how you need to man up (my apologies to the dumbass rednecks) and hit me back, to get your revenge. The best is that after what happened in Phoenix, he actually thinks he’s getting through, doesn’t he?

Well, Colt, let me bring you back down to Earth. You got through to Generico enough for him to spit in my face…do you honestly think that means anything? I’ll admit it myself, maybe I panicked a little at first but Steve is right. Generico still has no heart. No guts. No balls. He will never stand up to me. Even my two year old son has it in him to hit me when he doesn’t like what I do!
Generico can spit in my face all he wants but he will always remain a pathetic little worm.

The bottom line is this. Colt, this weekend you are going into a handicap match with two of the most vicious wrestlers in ROH. The partner you chose for the fight is a spineless rat. Think about it. It’s not too late for you to reconsider what side you are on.

Generico…you may have no choice but to follow Colt out to the ring on Saturday and stand in his corner but you do have the choice to stay as far away from me as possible, and that’s the choice you need to make, not just this weekend but from now on. I don’t want to waste any more time or energy to get you to understand this.

But if I have to, I WILL break your neck. And you KNOW I can.

And about my friend who tried to fight me…

He came to me a few days later, saying he knew he had made a mistake. He said he was sorry and offered to shake my hand.

Unfortunately, he extended the hand that had a cast on it…
True story.
