It is almost February, and TNA heads into its 31st show this Wednesday night. Wednesday night sure had its share of memorable moments, and laid the groundwork for an interesting NWA World Title picture.
There will be a four corners match between Mike Sanders, Jerry Lynn, the Truth, and David Flair this Wednesday night.
Tenacious Z put on one of the most amazing performances I have ever seen before in my life this last Wednesday night. If you aren't familiar with this incredible 19 year old, you soon will be. At the age of six, he lost his leg to cancer, and has since gone on to train to be a professional wrestler. I don't want to say much more, because words don't do him justice. He really has to be seen to be believed.
Amazing Red will get his long awaited X-Division Title shot this Wednesday night against champion Sonny Siaki.
TNA management was very happy with Trinity's performance. Now teamed with Kid Kash, she ads a great dimension to his persona. This so far has been a perfect match for the two, and I think you will be amazed at what they come up with together working as a team.
The NWA World Champion Jeff Jarrett and I will be guests at the upcoming Tyson fight in Memphis. This will be my second Tyson fight in person. Last time I saw Tyson fight was in Vegas, when the fight was stopped after one round due to a late punch. Needless to say, the fans were not happy and things got ugly in the arena. You knew it was bad when even Wayne Newton was visibly pi**ed. Tickets for the upcoming show are selling well, as all that are left are "obstructed view" tickets, which either means they are nosebleeds, or directly behind the hair of promoter Don King.
This Wednesday marks the return of Father James Mitchell. Mitchell is one of my favorite personalities in wrestling. The New Church will face Triple X for the NWA World Tag Team Titles this Wednesday night.
The Konnan saga should unfold quite nicely this Wednesday night. A few people have speculated at his motives, but you will have to tune in this Wednesday to see how this unfolds. We should have a better indication after his sit down interview with Mike Tenay this Wednesday night.
I will be joining Kid Kash and a few other TNA names at the upcoming 3PW show in Philadelphia on 2/15/03.
Interesting to hear about a Florida indy group calling themselves S.E.X. (standing for something slightly different than Russo's group), making some claims and even going to the extent of naming their last show "F.U. Russo." While I'm sure Vince appreciates the publicity (getting top billing, even though he wasn't even on the show), their other statements were certainly interesting. A little history on the name; Russo registered S.E.X. as a Limited Liability Corporation with the U.S. Government two years ago when the two of us were in pitch meetings with executives from the USA Network, Sci-Fi Network, and iN-Demand PPV for developing a series entitled Sports Entertainment Xtreme, or S.E.X.
Congratulations to Mike Tenay for being voted the "2002 Wrestling Observer Announcer of the Year." He and Don West have quickly become my favorite announce team in the business right now, and obviously I am not alone. Speaking of the Professor, do you have a question for Mike Tenay? He will be answering your questions over at the site!
Mortimer Plumtree was in his kitchen this morning when he heard a noise coming from a bag in the kitchen. He opened up the bag only to find a mouse. After attempting to close the bag, the mouse jumped out at Plumtree, landing on his shoulder. Various eyewitnesses reported Plumtree "ran like a bitch," and "screamed like a woman."
TNA hosted a number of dignitaries to this last week's PPV, including executives from iN-Demand and Panda Energy. All met with the wrestlers backstage following the show. What you are hearing about our locker room is true. It is the best atmosphere I've ever seen in this business.
Roddy Piper has an upcoming appearance on the Best Damn Sports Show Period.
Konnan's kendo stick shots left Sonny Siaki with about a dozen giant welts all over his body. While different hardcore weaponry varies in its pain factor, the cane is in a league all its own. Puppet the Psycho Dwarf nailed me in the leg with it on one of our early programs, and wow "that killed." It hurt more than a conjugal visit from Star Jones. On the flipside, I can now tell my kids I was caned by a midget on television, which was number seven on my "top ten things to do before I die" list.
It is doubtful Tony Schiavone will return to TNA.
For those of you viewing this after watching Xplosion, the hot news I was speaking of is a complete overhaul to the look and format of our syndicated program, which will begin this Wednesday night. The show will be almost all-original content, with plans to make it available on our website in the near future. We will post a schedule very soon on where you can see Xplosion in your area.
That is all from Music City. Have a great weekend and we will see you back on PPV this Wednesday night.
