Heute gab es eine UFC Pressekonferenz in Columbus, Ohio zum Event morgen. Dabei waren UFC President Dana White, Rich Franklin und Jason MacDonald.
Dana White nannte Randy Couture`s Retirement im letzten Jahr “Bullshit, Zitat:“I thought it was bullshit the first time he retired. Even after losing, he was the number two light heavyweight in the world. I still consider him the number two light heavyweight in the world now.”
Dana meinte zudem das wenn Renato Sobral gegen Jason Lambert gewinnt bei UFC 68, das er als naechstes auf Tito Ortiz trifft.
Jason MacDonald zum Thema ob er einen Vorteil auf dem Boden gegenueber Franklin hat:“Well you know I’m not fooling myself. Rich will be well prepared, what I have is the ability to capitalize on mistakes. I don’t claim to be some big jiu-jitsu guy, I never have. I just push the pace fast and hard and make my opponent make a mistake, and I’m usually am able to capitalize. I don’t see this fight as being any different. If Rich makes a mistake on the ground, I will definitely be able to capitalize for sure.”
MacDonald zum Thema ob er ein “Stepping Stone” in der UFC sei:“I like to think I’ve already proved myself to not be a pushover so I don’t think the UFC sees me as a stepping stone for Rich. I see it as a great match up with two aggressive fighters that have two entirely different motives. Rich wants to get back to the title, and I want to make my way up in the UFC.
Rich Franklin zu seinem Mentalen Status:“I just think I had a lot of factors in my life built up that affected that fight. I had to take a step back and look at not just what my training was like but my life in general.”
Rich Franklin ueber Jason MacDonald: “I think Jason said it best in that he’s not being a stepping stone. I’m looking for myself to have a tough fight. He doesn’t have the (nick) name ‘The Athlete’ for nothing. He’s always in great condition.”
