Habe den Fight noch nicht gesehen, werde ihn mir vielleicht noch spaeter beim Fight Network anschauen. Aber der folgende Artikel ueber den Fight klingt ja schonmal nicht gut.

In a decision that speaks volumes of the fight’s legitimacy, hometown hero Henry Maske was awarded a comical 117-110, 116-113, 117-110 unanimous decision over Virgil Hill, Saturday night in Munich, Germany in a tedious display of rust and reticence.

Even though Hill didn’t exactly set any punch stat records, he clearly outworked the seemingly catatonic Maske for much of the fight, and, without question, deserved the nod.

But this is boxing. More specifically, boxing in Germany, where auslanders are treated with contempt by the sport’s local authorities who all but fix fights for whatever promoter funds their ringside seats.

Two of the clearly corrupted/ignorant judges - Matteo Fratini and Dusan Hecko – had Maske winning ten rounds (minus a point deduction for headbutting in the eighth); a laughable misrepresentation of what actually transpired.

Don’t feel too bad for Hill. For merely showing up - and that’s about all he did - the North Dakota fighter earned a stunning $1.6 Million. Maske, who did even less than Hill, lined his lederhosen with a cool $2 Million.

These eyes see Hill however, as less of a victim, and more of an accomplice who carried the barely functioning Maske through to the outrageous verdict, potentially setting up an equally tedious, twice as lucrative, third “fight.”

The “win” Saturday night avenges Maske’s only career loss; a November 1996 twelve round split decision to Hill, then the WBA 175 lb. champ, that cost Maske his IBF Light Heavyweight belt.

Maske retired immediately after the loss.
