Deswegen schrieb ich ja auch "inoffizieller" Rekord. Das muss jetzt jeder für sich selbst entscheiden - als Platz 2 nennt halt die genannte Quelle Lewis vs. Stecher.

Ich glaube Tom Gannon nennt noch mehr Matches aus der Ära vor 1900, die so zwischen 4 bis 6 Stunden liefen.

Weil jetzt gerade das Match Stecher gegen Lewis hier genannt wird - 04. Juli 1916, Omaha: Die Angabe von 5 bzw. 5 1/2 Stunden kommt wohl daher, weil Lewis und sein Manager Billy Sandow das irgendwie unterschiedlich in Erinnerung hatten.

Lewis meinte:
"We wrestled five hours without either of us securing a fall. At the end of the bout, which was halted by the referee, Stecher appeared to be all in."

Billy Sandow schrieb 1920:
"They met in the open air under a broiling Nebraska sun. The bout started at 1:30 and at 7:00, after five-and-one-half hours of wrestling, without either man being off his feet once, folks began to run automobiles up to the ring so that they could throw their headlights on the men, that they might see each other."
