GSP gab nun in einem Interview bekannt das er auch zuruecktrat weil er sauer auf die UFC war wie sie Drogentests durchfuehrt. Er haette von der UFC strengere Kontrollen erwartet. Auf die Frage ob das ein Grund sei warum er zuruecktrat antwortete GSP:“It bothered me greatly, and it was one of the reasons I decided to step aside.”
Hintergrund ist folgender: Vor dem UFC 167 Fight gegen Johny Hendricks haben sich GSP und Hendricks darauf geeinigt das man unangekuendigte Drogentests durchfuehrt vor dem Fight. Nach einigen Wochen jedoch weigerte sich Hendricks die Tests zu machen. GSP machte seine unkontrollierten Tests und bestand sie alle.
GSP meinte er fuehlte sich von der UFC im Stich gelassen in dem Punkt.
UFC President Dana White reagierte natuerlich sofort, aber weil GSP seine Cash Cow ist, hielt sich Dana merklich zurueck:“The whole thing was done very weird. And if he feels like we didn’t support him, I don’t know. The whole thing’s fucking weird. I haven’t talked to him about it. He’s very fired up about it because he went out and started this thing and it’s turned into a Fuck. I get it. I don’t know what to say. I don’t know what to tell him. The whole fucking thing’s weird.”
Wie man sieht hielt sich Dana zurueck bei den Fucks (nur 3x in 9 Saetzen) und er beleidigte nicht GSP wie er es bei 99% der Fighter gemacht haette die nicht so wichtig sind.
GSP meinte zu seinem Versuch die Drogentests der UFC strenger zu machen:“I tried to change things, and unfortunately, maybe for money reasons, maybe for image, they were not ready to do that. I tried to bring about change in a very diplomatic way and it didn’t work so it’s unfortunate, but I believe it will happen sooner or later.”
UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta zeigte sich “enttauescht” von GSP`s Aussagen und meinte:“We’ve always had an open line of communication with him and I’d like to know why he feels that way. It was extremely disappointing to hear Georges make those comments because I don’t think any organization has embraced drug testing as we have. We have not only agreed to pay when the commission has said it wants to do enhanced testing, we’ve encouraged it. We have no problem with testing. When we serve as the commission in areas out of the country where there is no commission, we test everyone on the card so we are thorough and there can be no claims of bias.Whatever a commission would want us to do in terms of testing, we would embrace it. We’ll do as many as they want. I think perhaps Georges’ people didn’t communicate to him in detail everything we’d do as they tried to arrange the testing for the fight with him and Johny.”
Meine 2 Cents: Ich gebe GSP recht das die Drogentests nicht streng genug sind. Zumal sich die UFC hinter den State Athletic Commissions versteckt, man macht was noetig ist und weil das jeder so macht hat natuerlich Lorenzo Fertitta auch Recht wenn er sagt das niemand mehr macht wie die UFC. Aber so what? Es ist dennoch schlecht, man sollte es also verbessern und nicht den niedrigen Standard den es fast ueberall gibt beibehalten. Zumal die UFC hypokritisch ist bei TRT wo Fighter durch Aerzte eine TRT Lizenz bekommen und dann duerfen sie legal betruegen, das ist ein Skandal gegen den die UFC nichts macht und zum teil sogar umgeht, siehe Vitor Belfort der halt einfach in Brazil Jahrelang antritt.

Dana White hat inzwischen sich noch Mal dazu geauessert und denkt das GSP nur Revanche nimmt dafuer das White bei UFC167 bei der Pressekonferenz Hendricks als Sieger sah (und GSP in die Tonne trettete):
“What I heard is Georges St-Pierre is upset with some of the things I said at the (UFC 167) press conference. He’s upset that I said that he didn’t won the fight, that I thought Johny Hendricks won the fight. But if that’s the case, call me man-to-man, let’s talk on the phone. Let’s sit down face to face. I talked to him after the fight face to face. He didn’t say any of that to me. So the whole thing is a little weird.”’
