Ronda Rousey:
“I’m extremely encouraged of what I heard the announcement is. The drug testing I underwent at 16, or even 14, was much more stringent than the drug testing that I got as a champion in MMA. Now that they’ve started the random out-of-competition drug testing for everybody on the roster, as well as everybody that competes on every card, it really is going to start to be comparable to the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency. I really think USADA is an extremely great model to follow, and I’m also very happy to see there’s going to be third-party testing, as well. The more testing there is, the better it is because the fighters will be safer.”
Georges St.Pierre:
“Very happy to learn about the UFC announcing a new comprehensive random PED testing. Clearly a big step in the right direction for our sport. Can't wait to get more details about the actual protocol, 3rd party testing agency and new sanctions.”
Chris Weidman:
“Love the stance UFC is taking on PED's now. Gonna be great for the sport. Excited to know I'll be fighting normal human beings.”
Michael Bisping:
“Today is a great day for the sport of mixed martial arts. Excellent work”
Tim Kennedy:
“Excited about the potential change in the UFC but talk is cheap. Opening with suspensions of recent PED athletes would convey their resolve.”
Kenny Florian:
“A new era for the sport and a huge positive step forward.”
Joe Lauzon:
“More testing the better. Lets hope other big shows follow the @UFC's lead so there is no place to hide within our sport.”
Gunnar Nelson:
“Well done @ufc with new PED testing policy and supporting longer ban. Important that true technique and talent shines through.”
Derek Brunson:
“People about to start going from MW to featherweight with these new rules. LoL”
VADA Statement ueber Twitter:
“Great if @UFC helps commissions expand testing, but many fights held w/o commission oversight? Must have transparency.Lot's of ???'s remain.”
