Zitat:“For me, I got knocked out, I got my eye stitched up, and I went to the press conference that night, I told myself, ‘I need to face this right now. The longer I wait to face it – the inevitable is there, I’m going to have to face it no matter what, so let’s do it now and get past this. The sooner I can deal with it the sooner I can get beyond it.
My trainer came to me right before the press conference. I was upset, obviously crying. I was upset. Your heart is broken, and he came up to me and said, ‘You’re going to go out to that press conference and they’re going to ask you about a rematch.’ And I said, ‘Yeah.’ He goes, ‘You know what you’re going to say? You’re going to say Muhammad Ali got knocked out and he came back, and he’s a legend. Why am I any different?’ Before I had any time to give myself doubt he was already picking me up. There’s no way I could have gone through that without all the help, but it started there, and obviously I had help from every single loved one around me, but it started there. He started picking me up right there before I could even leave and have those dark thoughts.”
Darueber das Ronda Rousey Selbstmordgedanken hatte:
“For me, I would never get that low after a loss. Maybe I’m a selfish person, but I just think I want to get back and win for me. It’s frustrating. You deal with a lot of doubt in your mind and maybe I’m not as good as I thought I was. Obviously those are the questions that go through your mind, but you have to be honest with yourself and think, ‘Maybe not. Obviously you need to get better because this fighter was better than you tonight.’ I went out to the press conference that night.”
