FAQ Thread

Zitat:"Thank you very much for your continued support of Dragon Gate.

One of our rookie wrestlers made an unofficial blog detailing incidents regarding our pet monkey Cora, detailing them from the monkey perspective. We received many inquiries about the abuse mentioned in the blog. We apologize respectfully for causing such a great concern and worry.

To confirm the facts gathered from our staff and roster. Cora has lived at our gym for many years. He is raised and cared for by our rookies and trainees, and is cherished and loved. The cruelty to animals allegations on the internet were investigated and found to not be true.

The offensive blog posts have been deleted. Cora is now living with foster parents to ensure safety and remove fears of his conditions.

The company will continue to investigate to uncover further facts and information, in hopes of eliminating any further doubts and recover the trust of our fans.

The wrestler responsible for causing all this confusion has been disciplined for an indefinite amount of time. Further, President Takashi Okamura accepts responsibility for these events and will incur both disciplinary action and a reduction in pay."

Blogeintrag von Shingo
Zitat:"I would like to personally apologize.

I apologize for the misunderstanding caused by the photos of Cora posted to my blog.

For the uncomfortable feelings and trouble caused, I am very sorry.

Everyone is worried, but Cora is doing very well now, the above photo was taken a few days ago.

Though this is my own blog, I wanted to show an image of a healthy and happy Cora.

For causing our fans such great worry, I am truly very sorry.

Shingo Takagi"

Zitat:A new announcement from DG regarding Cora today.

A cage has been installed at the location she is staying at, per the local guidelines. The hope is that Cora can continue to live there, pending insurance approval and acquisition of the needed permits.

Further information on the disciplinary action mentioned last time:

RYOMA is on an indefinite period of absence. During his absence the hope is he will gain the maturity he did not show in opening his blog.

President Okamura will lose 50% of his salary until this matter is solved completely.

In an effort to prevent situations like these from ever happening again, a new focus will be given to mental health, in addition to the physical training given at the gym.

The company again sincerely apologizes for the situation. Investigations into the RYOMA blog accusations are continuing.

The roster and staff will work together and do their best to regain the lost trust from fans.

Updates on this situation will continue when needed.

A photo site will be opened, so fans can view Cora in her new surroundings. There are some photos there now, but the site will open formally soon.

Zitat:Kobe Police concluded their investigation into the Cora abuse allegations on the 1st. 4 wrestlers were named in the report. They were not named publicly, but a press conference was held today by the company to announce their punishments. Three of them are CIMA, KAGETORA, and trainee Naoki Matsushita. The fourth was not named publicly, due to no longer being with the company. If I had to hazard a guess, based on available information I would have to say it was Yuki Ono. But don't quote me on that because I am just making an educated guess.

All three, along with RYOMA, Commissioner Toru Kido, and President Okamura appeared at the press conference today. All six appeared with shaven heads. Each expressed remorse for their respective actions and their punishments were announced.

CIMA. He was named because he was the one who purchased Cora 10 years ago and brought her to the gym. The ordinances for keeping exotic pets changed several times over the years, and he neglected to keep up with them. This lead to the sub-standard conditions that Cora came to live under. He did not participate in any of the abuse. For this, he will receive a 30% pay cut for the next three months.

Naoki Matsushita. The infamous Nao-chan. The most enduring image of this entire mess is the choking photo. As I mentioned back at the initial announcements, the person choking her was Matsushita. He was set to debut, and begin as a contracted roster member this fall. This agreement will be voided, and he will start over as a trainee. Hopefully he can benefit from the newfound focus on mental health and maturity during training.

KAGETORA. A name not mentioned until today. During an incident where Cora escaped from her collar, she was temporarily placed in a box while a new collar was prepared. KAGETORA noticed a foul smell from the box, and sprayed a deodorant or air freshener type substance into the box. The spray was harmful and resulted in a situation where Cora was bathed in an unpleasant manner to try and remove the new scent. To me it is ambiguous as to whether this was intentional or a mistake. KAGETORA is not a contracted member of the roster, so as such he cannot incur a punishment similar to CIMA or the others. He will be donating a portion of his appearance pay to animal protection agencies.

RYOMA. He was not named in the police report, but it was his blog that began this whole ordeal. He has been on indefinite suspension since the story broke. His suspension was given a length of one year today, although I am not quite sure if that means one year from now, or if it is retroactive to late May/early June.

All four apologized for their actions. President Okamura also announced that in the future there would be fewer shows scheduled, allowing time for more volunteer work, to help DG give back to communities. They are also providing supplies to the family Cora is now living with.

While the incident was centered around a small few, Dragon Gate as a whole accept responsibility for the scandal. A united effort will continue to be made to regain the lost trust of fans and everyone.
