Die Sprache der WWE

- Als Teil der vor einiger Zeit angeregten Bemühungen der Namensänderung von "World Wrestling Entertainment" zu "WWE" gelang nun ein intern verteiltes Dokument in die Öffentlichkeit. Dieses Dokument trägt den Namen "The Language of WWE". Dem Figure 4 Wrestling Newsletter zufolge wurde das Dokument an internationale Übersetzer für die WWE-Ausstrahlungen im Ausland der USA gesendet.

Diese Sendung erhielt eine Liste von Wörtern und Sätzen, die von nun als "Incorrect Terminology", d.h. als nicht mehr korrekte Bezeichnungen, gelten. Außerdem gab es eine Auflistung mit Wörtern und Sätzen, die die gegensätzliche "Correct Terminology" darstellen, welche von nun an in allen WWE-Übertragungen mit Übersetzung zu benutzen sind. Ein paar Auszüge:

“World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is a publicly traded entertainment company (NYSE: WWE) that creates and delivers a weekly action soap opera to its passionate fans.

WWE has been a recognized leader in entertainment for more than 25 years and has developed into one of the most popular and sophisticated forms of global entertainment today.

As a global entertainment brand, the language that we use when communicating on WWE is critical.

Please ensure that you are familiar and employing the below, effective immediately. “



Here are some of the terms that are banned and the alternatives that WWE wants used:

* “Wrestling” or “catch” is banned. Some European countries still use the term “catch” to describe pro wrestling and “catchers” to describe wrestlers.

* The following phrases are incorrect: “Wrestling is broadcast in 145 countries,” or “Catch is broadcast in 145 countries.” The correct terminology is: “WWE is broadcast in 145 countries.”

* Even the word “Sports” is no longer allowed. Instead, WWE is to be referred to as “Entertainment” or an “Action Soap Opera.” Seriously.

WWE gives these examples: “WWE is exciting entertainment” or “WWE is an exciting action soap opera”

* “Athletes” or “Sportsmen” are not allowed either. WWE gives the following example to use: “WWE Superstars are entertainers with tremendous athletic prowess.”

* The terms “fight” and “fighting” are not allowed. Matches must be referred to as “matches,” “bouts,” and “action.”

“The Language of WWE” concludes with the following “Key Soundbytes” to be used:

* “WWE is pure entertainment”

* “WWE is an action soap opera”

* “WWE Superstars are entertainers with tremendous athletic prowess”

Über das meiste wurde schon viel hier diskutiert , aber warum woll man : “Athletes” nichtmehr benutzen ?
Ist das nicht sogar teil von Big Shows Gimmick ( The Largest Athlet in the world ) ....

Bis jetzt war "Seifenoper für Männer" eine beleidigende Bezeichnung für Wrestling. Jetzt wählt die WWE es selbst. Gut gemacht, Leute!

Ich finde es ja am dümmsten, das man den Begriff "kämpften" bzw. "fighten" nicht mehr benutzen darf.
Was bitte tun die denn da sonst? Oder was wollen sie das der Zuschauer glaubt das sie tun?
Dann können sie doch gleich regelmäßig während der Promo sagen:
"Ich muss dir das jetzt an den Kopf werfen. Eigentlich mag ich dich ja, aber das gehört halt zur Geschichte."
Das ist schon ziemlich lächerlich.
Vinnie tut in seinen letzten Jahren dem Biz echt keine Gefallen.

Tja, warum benutzt Europa noch "wrestling" oder "catch"? Weil es bei den deutschen Indyligen sehr gutes Wrestling gibt, das sich in Punkto Qualität A: nicht vor der WWE verstecken muss und B: es hier keine lächerliche Diskussion um Sports Entertainment gibt. Grundsolides Wrestling mit u.a. sehr guten Wrestlern aus Japan und Europa.

Ich darf nicht mehr "Athletes" sagen, aber es sind "entertainers with athletic prowess".

Nächste Woche bei Verliebt in der WWE: Werden sich Rhiley und Miz endlich outen? Wird Triple H was dagegen unternehmen das Zack Ryder auf seinen Parkplatz parkt?

Ohmann ich hoffe die WWE bekommt irgendwann wieder ordentlich Konkurrenz, vielleicht finden sie dann zu alten Höhen zurück.

Aber leider Gottes gibt es einfach keine Konkurrenz zur WWE und deshalb können die machen was sie wollen und werden dennoch Geld damit verdienen

Mein Gott, so gut sich das In Ring Produkt in den letzten 2 Jahren entwickelt hat, das ist definitiv das Lächerlichste was dem Business je passiert ist, trotz WCW und Rob Black.
Das Ganze wirkt wie eine Karikatur auf sich selbst.
