TNA Impact Wrestling on Thursday, July 28 officially averaged a 1.20 rating off a first hour 1.14 rating and second hour 1.26 rating.

Impact opened with a 1.14 rating in Q1 and peaked at the end of the show with a 1.36 rating. A positive trend continued with the Q8 rating being higher than the overall rating for the sixth week out of the last seven weeks.

Looking at the overall show, the first five quarter-hours of the show were below the corresponding 2011 average. The final three quarter-hours were above the corresponding 2011 average, culminating in Q8, which was ten percent above its 2011 average.

First Hour Break Down

Q1: Impact opened with a 1.14 rating for the standard Immortal talking segment. It marks the 12th week out of the last 13 where Q1 has scored below the overall show average. (down 5.4% vs. 2011 average)

Q2: Impact dipped slightly to a near-show-low 1.13 rating for RVD vs. Gunner in a BFG Series match, Bischoff & Immortal backstage, and one commercial break. (down 3.7% vs. 2011 average)

Q3: Impact increased slightly to a 1.16 rating for the in-ring exchange between Austin Aries, Alex Shelley, and Brian Kendrick, one commercial, and Matt Morgan's backstage promo. It was the highest-rated quarter-hour of the first hour in an hour that was very even with little variance. (down 2.4% vs. 2011 average)

Q4: Impact dipped to a show-low 1.12 rating for Bully Ray vs. Crimson in a BFG Series match and two commercial breaks. (down 2.1% vs. 2011 average)

Second Hour Break Down

Q5: Impact was in the midst of the second commercial break from Q4 at the top of the hour, with the fifth quarter-hour scoring a 1.21 rating. It was the start of an upward trend in the second hour for the Knockouts match of the show between Tara and Angelina Love. There was also one commercial after the match. (down 3.9% vs. 2011 average)

Q6: Impact increased slightly to a 1.23 rating for Kendrick vs. Abyss in an Ultimate X match, one commercial, and Eric Young's backstage bit. (up 2.2% vs. 2011 average)

Q7: Impact increased slightly again to a 1.24 rating for a Knockouts verbal exchange, one commercial, and ring introductions for the main event. (up 4.6% vs. 2011 average)


Q8: Impact peaked with a 1.36 rating for the Kurt Angle vs. Mr. Anderson steel cage match. (up 10.3% vs. 2011 average)

Im Durchschnitt haben rund 1,436,000 Menschen die Ausgabe am Donnerstagabend verfolgt - ein Rückgang von 164,000 Zuschauern. Am Ende der Ausgabe kam es zur Vertragsunterzeichnung für das TNA World Heavyweight Championship Match zwischen Kurt Angle und Sting.

Natürlich ist das Rating für eine Go-Home-Show sehr enttäuschend, doch man muss auch dazu sagen, dass IMPACT Wrestling diese Woche starke Konkurrenz hatte:

TNA Impact Wrestling on Thursday, August 4 scored a 1.14 rating, down from a 1.20 rating last week and 1.26 rating the week before.

Impact averaged 1.44 million viewers, the fewest in eight weeks dating back to the June 2 episode. It represents a 22 percent drop compared to two weeks ago when the July 21 episode averaged 1.79 million viewers.

Impact was faced with tough cable TV competition on Thursday night, as the MTV season premiere of "Jersey Shore" averaged 8.8 million viewers. USA Network also fared well with "Burn Notice" and "Suits." Impact was also out-rated by Shark Week on Discovery.

On cable TV Thursday night, Impact ranked #29 overall, #28 in males 18-34, and #14 in males 18-49, which was one of the lowest rankings of the year for Impact.

The key loss for Impact was among younger male viewers, which makes up a portion of Spike TV's target demographic:

-- Males 18-34: Lowest since May 5
-- Males 12-17: Lowest demographic rating of the year
-- Males 12-34: Tied with April 28 for lowest of the year

TNA Impact Wrestling on Thursday, August 4 officially scored a 1.14 rating with a first hour 1.16 rating and second hour 1.13 rating.

It was the first time in six weeks and only the second time out of the last 14 weeks where the second hour scored below the first hour rating. Impact has historically struggled to build an audience from the first hour to second hour, but TNA has reversed the trend the second-half of 2011.

Impact's second hour rating was likely dragged down by the season premiere of MTV's "Jersey Shore," which aired at 10:00 pm. EST against the second hour of Impact. Impact bottomed out in the eighth quarter-hour during the Sting-Kurt Angle contract signing with a 1.06 rating.

Impact's peak segment was a 1.25 rating at the top of the second hour. Impact then dropped to a 1.10 in Q6 and Q7 before bottoming-out in Q8.

First Hour Break Down

Q1: Impact opened with a 1.19 rating, which was the highest Q1 rating out of the last six weeks and second-highest out of the last 14 weeks.

The segment featured Immortal's standard show-opening talking segment. The rating was still still below the 2011 average for the first quarter-hour. (down 1.2% vs. 2011 average)

Q2: Impact scored a 1.21 rating, which was the highest quarter-hour rating of the first hour and second-highest of the show. It was also the only quarter-hour above its 2011 average.

The segment featured the Knockouts match of Tessmacher vs. Madison Rayne, one commercial, and A.J. Styles vs. Brother Devon in a BFG Series match. (up 3.0% vs. 2011 average)

Q3: Impact dropped to a first hour-low 1.10 rating. The segment included one commercial break leading into backstage segments and Samoa Joe vs. The Pope. (down 7.2% vs. 2011 average)

Q4: Impact increased to a 1.14 rating for Joe's post-match tirade, one commercial, and the first-half of Robert Roode vs. Hernandez in a Street Fight. (down 0.3% vs. 2011 average/essentially flat)

Second Hour Break Down

Q5: Impact increased to a show-high 1.25 rating for the end of Roode-Hernandez, one commercial, and the first-half of Austin Aries vs. Alex Shelley. (down 0.7% vs. 2011 average/essentially flat)

Q6: Impact began its second-hour decline with 1.10 rating for the end of Aries-Shelley, one commercial, and the Sting-Angle production truck segment commenting on previous matches. (down 8.4% vs. 2011 average)

Q7: Impact remained at a 1.10 rating for a commercial followed by the TV main event of Steiner & Gunner vs. RVD & Crimson. (down 7.0% vs. 2011 average)

Q8: Impact bottomed-out with a 1.06 rating for the Sting-Angle contract signing, which was preceded by one commercial break. (down 13.6% vs. 2011 average)

Im Vergleich zur Vorwoche verschlechterte sich der Wert somit wieder um 0.07 Punkte. Trotz des leichten Rückgangs stieg jedoch die Zuschauerzahl. So haben ungefähr 1,540,000 Menschen die Ausgabe am Donnerstagabend verfolgt. Im Main Event kam es diese Woche zu einem Bound for Glory Series 3-on-1 Handicap Match. Crimson besiegte hierbei Gunner, Bully Ray & Scott Steiner.
