Main Event der Show soll Anderson Silva vs Kelvin Gastelum sein, der Fight der eigentlich bei UFC 212 stattfinden sollte, allerdings kurz vorher gecancelt wurde weil Gastelum positive auf marijuana getestet wurde bei seinem Fight mit Vitor Belfort. Danach verlor Kelvin the potthead noch gegen Chris Weidman.

Anderson Silva dagegen gewann anfang des Jahres eine sehr knappe und glueckliche Decision gegen Derek Brunson, was sein erster Sieg in den letzten 5 Jahren war. Danach forderte er ernsthaft einen Titlefight, und wenn er den nicht bekommen wuerde, wuerde er zuruecktreten…aber wie ihr seht…er tritt nicht zurueck. Nicht auszudenken was Silva fordern wird, wenn er diesen Fight irgendwie gewinnen sollte…

Aber sollte Silva wirklich gewinnen, wird die UFC ihm ziemlich sicher einen Titlefight geben gegen den Bisping vs GSP Sieger.

Michael Bisping wird bei UFC Fight Night 122 in China Anderson Silva ersetzen und auf Kelvin Gastelum treffen. Bisping wird damit nur vier Wochen nach seiner Niederlage gegen GSP wieder antreten. Ueberrascht mich, dass er eine Freigabe so schnell hat…

Bisping hat angekuendigt im Maerz 2018 nach der Show in London zurueckzutreten, sodass dieser Fight hier sein vorletzter Fight sein soll.

Bisping wurde nach 150 Sekunden ausgeknockt im Main Event.

Etliche Chinesische Fighter waren Siegreich, aber was mir auffiel, sie bekamen allesamt leichte Gegner, dementsprechend war dann auch die Qualitaet.

Joe Rogan hat ebenfalls die Freigabe von Michael Bisping kritisiert. Es sei zudem erwaehnt, das Bisping nach dem GSP Fight eigentlich eine 30 taegige Suspension hatte von der NYSAC. Diese wurde dann aber eine Woche spaeter auf 7 Tage reduziert. Normalerweise passiert sowas nicht, so es ist durchaus wahrscheinlich, dass die Suspendierung reduziert wurde, damit Bisping ueberhaupt antreten kann bei dieser Fight Night Show, was natuerlich das Ganze System dann aushebelt.

Joe Rogan:

“I don’t think you should be allowed to fight three weeks after you have a brutal fight like Michael Bisping did with GSP.He got rocked, he got choked unconscious, and then three weeks later he’s fighting a really dangerous up-and-coming Kelvin Gastelum? Kelvin is a beast. He’s got nasty boxing and that’s what he showed in that fight. He hit him with a beautiful straight jab and a right hand behind it. That kid is just on fire. He’s on another level right now.

You really have to protect the fighter from themselves. You really can’t be letting a guy fight three weeks after a brutal fight like that. It just does not make sense. I don’t think it’s smart. I understand the UFC needed someone to fill in on short notice because Anderson Silva tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs and they did not want to lose the Shanghai main event. It turns into an even bigger fight when you’ve got the former middleweight champion right off his loss.

Three weeks later fight again? It’s just not smart. I know Bisping wanted to do it, I know Bisping would probably do it again. If you asked Bisping to fight in a few weeks he would probably do it again. Someone was talking about him fighting in England, probably in March. Boy, that’s less crazy, but still, crazy. We’re basically into December.”

GSP sagte nun, dass er Bisping respektiert den Fight mit Gastelum gemacht zu haben, dass er aber die Entscheidung der UFC den Fight zu erlauben in Frage stellt:

“You know, that was the big surprise. Why? It’s so crazy, it doesn’t make sense. I don’t know how the athletic commission said yes and accepted that he’d fight. It’s so crazy, it’s so crazy.

“I don’t know how the family, the relatives of Michael Bisping allowed him to fight. I don’t know why the team, the coaches said, ‘OK, take the fight.’

I don’t know why Michael Bisping took the fight. I don’t know why the UFC said yes. This is very dangerous, it’s not just a fight, it’s very dangerous. Normally, he needed rest for like 16 to 19 days, you know. But he’s sleeping, he didn’t tap out, he went to sleep in the St-Pierre bout. When that happens in a fight, like a choke or knockout, you need a rest, like a minimum of 16 days.

I said, ‘OK, the first time with Gastelum, like a jab or something in the face, he (Bisping) was going to go out because he didn’t go through the recuperation and the rest that he needed.”
