NJPWkann man mittlerweile jede Woche am Freitag auf AXS TV sehen, der Mark Cuban gehoert, bekannt wahrscheinlich als Dallas Mavericks Eigentuemer.
Cuban sprach nun in einem Interview ueber NJPW in Nord Amerika, und das man plant mehr Shows abzuhalten:
“We’re looking to expand it on Friday nights. We want to do more live, as opposed to the delay, and we’re talking to them about special events.
Ebenso sprach er darueber wie Vince McMahon seiner Meinung nach NJPW sieht:
“No, he thinks we’re just little shit. We’re not a threat because of the language. That’s the biggest challenge, the language. But if you’re a purist for wrestling, and you like the action, it’s the best promotion by far. People here aren’t going to connect as directly, but if you really love wrestling, then it’s a no-brainer.”
Und weiter:
“We’re getting to know them better. We went from a delay to a short delay to live, so we’re going to get smarter about it. The numbers keep on going up. Other TVs are declining, and ours are going up. That’s a good sign. There are some nights when it beats MMA, it’s doing that well.”
“I even tune in to check out Jim. I can’t say I’m hardcore, but the show is more focused on the wrestling–that’s the glitz–than what you get anywhere else. The talent quality is equal to any of the other promotions, without question.
“We want people to get attached and become addicted to it. Now we’re online with DirectTV and Sling TV, and Philo.com, which is only $15 a month, so if you don’t have us on cable, you can get us online.
There will be times in the future when we add more NJPW and less MMA. It’s a Friday night staple.”

Selbst mit dem Englischen Kommentar, oder Untertiteln, wird es sehr schwierig sein, NJPW in Nord Amerika zu verkaufen. Ja, es gibt Hardcore Fans, die es schauen in Nord Ameirka, aber das sind wenige, und es ist und wird durch die Sprachbarriere auch ein Nichenmarkt bleiben.
Bei einem Wrestler (wie etwa Nakamura), koennte man die Sprachbarriere sogar nutzen zu einem Vorteil, weil er sich eben abhebt vom Rest. Bei einer ganzen Promotion wird das aber nicht gelingen.
NJPW ist was die Produktionsqualitaet und die Matchqualitaet betrifft sehr viel besser als WWE. Aber das nuetzt in Nord Amerika nichts, weil es eben nur ein Nichenprodukt ist. Wie Cuban sagt, fuer die Puristen ist das Produkt gut, aber das sind nur wenige.
