Vancouver Canucks General Manager Dave Nonis sagte nun das er nicht wie letztes Jahr davor zurueckschreckt Spieler wegzutraden vor der Trade Deadline.

Im letzten Jahr hollte Dave Nonis vier Spieler in Mika Noronen, Eric Weinrich, Keith Carney und Sean Brown. Fuer sie gab er jedoch zwei 2nd Round Draft Picks, einen 3rd Round Draft Pick und einen 4th Round Draft Pick her. Keiner der vier Spieler blieb bei den Canucks, sondern verliess Vancouver im Sommer 2006.

Dave Nonis hat schon im December letzten Jahres gesagt das es ein Fehler war, soviele Draft Picks herzugeben, und das die Canucks in den kommenden zwei Jahren dafuer bezahlen muessen. Jetzt meinte Nonis dazu:“You can only move a large number of picks so many times before you have really reduced your chances of having a strong reserve list and top prospects. Over the years our team has moved a great number of picks.”

In diesem Jahr will jedoch Nonis einen Center als Ersatz fuer Ryan Kesler und einen Defenceman hollen:“If we can add depth at both of those positions we'll do it. If not, we'll have to find a way of making do with what we have, including the players in Manitoba.”

Sami Salo wird Free Agent im Sommer und Brendan Morrison wurde seit Monaten als moeglicher Trade Wert genannt. Etliche Teams in der Western Conference haben schon Trades vollzogen, Nonis sieht jedoch momentan das noch zuviel verlangt wird: “That's one of the reason why we aren't close to a deal. There are players that are out there that I think teams will move. Some of those players would help us but their price tags haven't been to our liking. If that doesn't change then there will be very little movement.”
