-Die Columbus Blue Jackets haben Defenceman Adam McQuaid zu den Boston Bruins getraded im Austausch fuer einen 5th Round Draft Pick beim diesjaehrigen NHL Entry Draft. Der 20 jaehrige McQuaid hatte 9 Tore und 22 Assists in 65 Spielen mit den Sudbury Wolves in der Ontario Hockey League in dieser Season. McQuaid war davor der 2nd Round Draft Pick (55th Overall) im NHL Entry Draft 2005 der Blue Jackets. Naja manche Trades muss man nicht verstehen…..
-Die Tampa Bay Lightning haben ihren Forward Andreas Karlsson unter einen weiteren ein Jahresvertrag genommen. Der 32 jaehrige Schwede hatte drei Tore und 6 Assists in 53 Spielen bei den Lightning. Tampa Bay General Manager Jay Feaster meinte dazu:“Andreas Karlsson is a very versatile hockey player who spent the past year learning our system and coming to understand what John Tortorella demands of his players. Karlsson is a very good skater who can play center and is an effective face-off man and a good penalty killer. He demonstrated in the postseason that he can also play left wing, and can do so as part of a top-two line scenario when needed.”
-Der South Florida Sun-Sentinel berichtet das Florida Panthers Restricted Free Agent Nathan Horton einen langzeit Vertrag unterschreiben will. Horton meinte gegenueber der Zeitung:“There's no question I want to stay here. It's so much fun and it's going to be a place to be the next couple of years. Definitely, watching the playoffs, we're going to be there next year.” Neben Horton sind bei den Panthers auch Stephen Weiss und Bryan Allen Restricted Free Agents im Sommer, auch hier haben beide bereits bekannt gegeben das sie in Florida bleiben wollen.
-Die Chicago Blackhawks haben Jonathan Toews unter einen drei Jahres Entry Level Contract genommen. Der 19 jaehrige war der 3rd Overall Draft Pick im NHL Entry Draft 2006, Toews spielte mit seinen 19 Jahren (genauso wie Jordan Staal) bei den World Championships in Moscow letzte Woche. Blackhawks General Manager Dale Tallon meinte dazu:“Jonathan Toews is an exciting player that Blackhawk fans are going to enjoy watching. He has been an outstanding player at the collegiate level for two years, he's won two Gold Medals playing for Team Canada in the World Junior Championships the past two years, and was a member of Gold Medal winning Team Canada in the recently completed World Championships in Moscow. He has shown leadership and the ability to compete at all levels. We're excited to welcome him to the Blackhawk family.”

Der Schwede spielte in der abgelaufenen Season fuer Timra IK in der Swedish League, und hatte dabei 21 Punkte in 53 Spielen. Waehrend den World Championships wurde er zu einem der Top drei Spieler gewaehlt. Leafs GM John Ferguson meinte dazu:”Anton is a top level defenceman in the Swedish elite league whose hockey sense and puck-moving ability makes him a real asset. We are looking forward to training camp and feel that he is well-suited for the new NHL style of play.” Stralman war der 216th Overall Draft Pick im NHL Entry Draft 2005. Er soll die Blueline der Leafs um Tomas Kaberle, Bryan McCabe, Pavel Kubina, Hal Gill, Ian White und Carlo Colaiacovo in der kommenden Season verstaerken.
