Wie die Toronto Sun und TSN berichtet haben die Ottawa Senators ihren General Manager John Muckler gefeuert. Darauf angesprochen verwiess Muckler auf den Eigentuemer des Teams Eugene Melnyk. Der Pressesprecher von Melnyk, Ken Villazor, wollte den Bericht nicht dementieren, sondern sagte nur:“the owner has released a statement that he was reviewing all management with the club.“

Das Statement von Eugene Melnyk wurde danach nur einige Stunde spaeter veroeffentlicht, darin hiess es:“We are continuing to have ongoing discussions with management on the future direction and therefore the roles of everyone at the senior level. We had a great year and I am very proud of what my team has achieved. Saying that, I am always evaluating what we can do, both short term and long term, to continue the momentum and lead us to a Stanley Cup victory next year and for years to come.”

Die Senators haben 105 Punkte in der Regular Season erreicht, wurden vierter in der Eastern Conference, und kamen zum erstenmal ins Stanley Cup Final wo man gegen die Anaheim Ducks in fuenf Spielen unterlag.

Sollte das wirklich stimmen, waere das ja der Hammer. Muckler bringt die Sens ins Stanley Cup Final verbessert das Team die ganze Zeit, und wird dafuer gefeuert? You`ve gotta be kidding.
