GERUECHT: Wechselt CM PUNK ins MMA?

MMA und Professional Wrestling sind aber zwei verschiedene paar Schuhe. Im Wrestling musst du 300 Tage im Jahr funktionieren. Du musst viele schmerzhafte Bumps einstecken und Verletzungen werden oft genug nicht richtig auskuriert. Beim MMA trainiert man auf max. 2-3 Kämpfe im Jahr hin. Natürlich verletzt man sich auch dort und tritt vielleicht auch mal mit Schmerzen an, aber die Belastung ist doch deutlich geringer.

Zum Thema CM Punk und die UFC kann man ja geteilter Meinung sein. Ich kann mir vorstellen das es so ein bisschen wie bei Kimbo damals wird. Erstmal Neulinge gegen ihn stellen, die er schlagen kann und dann abgehalfterte Kämpfer mit Namen. Je nachdem wie er sich in der Zeit entwickelt kann man ja auch über etwas hochwertigere Kämpfe (bei weitem nicht Top Ten) nachdenken. Ich habe aus Spaß gestern bei unserer MMA-Weihnachtsfeier mal gefragt ob schon einer der Jungs nen Anruf bekommen hat von der UFC ;)

Ben Askren zur CM Punk Verpflichtung:

Man kann Askren verstehen, die UFC macht es ihm auch einfach. Askren, einem olympischen Wrestler, der einer der besten MMA Welterweight Fighter ist, Top Ten no less, wird von Dana White gesagt das er noch mehr Fights braucht um sich zu beweisen, aber ein CM Punk von dem man noch nicht Mal weiss OB er kaempfen kann, wird verpflichtet. Wir alle wissen natuerlich warum, aber das nennt man heuchlerisch.

UFC Welterweight Fighter Cathal Pendred hat verlauten lassen das er der erste Gegner von CM Punk sein wird. Ueber Twitter schrieb er:“This punk is going to be 'one & done' in the UFC. It looks like I will be that one. #JustWonTheLottery”

Nun ist Pendred 15-2-0 im MMA und 2-0-0 in der UFC und wuerde damit auch nicht in das Anforderungsprofil passen das Dana White sagte. Ich haette auch meine Zweifel ob die SAC diesen Fight sanktionieren wuerde.

He might do great, but why does he get a chance? He’s an amateur. You’re going to put an amateur in there with pros? That makes us all amateurs, so I think it’s ridiculous. As far as I’m concerned, f-ck him, f-ck the whole situation. Anybody who takes that fight is tripping.

If I want to, I can’t go play in the NBA – not even Stefan Struve’s big ass. He can’t go play in the NBA if he wants to because he feels like making a change. For a publicity thing? They wouldn’t pay him no money, and they wouldn’t even let him play. It’s ridiculous.

I don’t think you should just let some millionaire WWE guy just come on over and play a little game, like have fun with his career. I’m over here busting my ass, fighting for 10 years and doing my thing and having a serious job that I have to do for this. And this guy is going to come over and probably get paid more than everyone in the room.

I’m sorry, but this guy’s making a joke out of my serious life and getting compensated more for it. I don’t mean no harm on him, but I don’t think it’s right.”

Conor McGregor muss auch zu allem was sagen, somit auch natuerlich zu CM Punk:

“As far as the CM Punk thing, he has a different fanbase, the WWE fans. To be honest, it's weird to me to let an amateur come in and do it in the pro game. I mean, who knows what his skill level is like? I would like to see it the way they done it with former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar. Brock had one or two fights in the smaller league. Brock was a different animal all together. He had Division 1 All-American wrestling status. He was a freestyle wrestling champion. Plus he was a f***ing monster of a man. “

Und weiter ueber Punk:
“Listening to him speak, when I heard the broadcast announcement I saw a man afraid. Like he signed up for something he didn't want to be. When the shin bone cracks the body or the elbow cracks or the heel cracks... It doesn't get much more real than that. Personally, I don't think he should be in this league just yet, but again, you bring asses to the seats, you bring eyeballs to the screen and we will give you a shot.”

Dana White sagte nun:

“Some people love it, some people hate it. The people who are opposed to it and bitching about it, I get it. Every fight that we do isn't going to be everybody's thing, but there will be people who want to watch him and those that don't.

He and I have become friends. And he told me, ‘I've achieved some cool things in my life and I want to try the UFC. It's not like I'm young enough to fight my way up in the smaller leagues. I'd like to come in and give it a shot and see what I got.

The thing is with Ben Askren is that Ben Askren doesn't really want to fight here, in my opinion," White said in response. "People that are close to him say the same thing. The guy is making a ton of money to fight nobodies, but when you talk and you say a lot of things it keeps your name out there. Trust me when I tell you this, Ben Askren does not want to fight in the UFC. Believe me when I tell you that.”
