GERUECHT: Wechselt CM PUNK ins MMA?

CM Punk wird in Zukunft bei Roufus Sport in Milwaukee trainieren. Das ist nahe an Chicago und ist eines der besseren Striking Gyms in Nord Amerika (Anthony Pettis trainiert dort). Ausserdem ist Ben Askren ebenfalls bei Roufus Sport, und Askren ist ja einer der besten Wrestler im MMA. Kleine Randnotiz dabei ist, das Askren ja vor kurzem sich darueber beschwaert hat das die UFC Punk verpflichtet ha.

Jones hofft das Punk ausgeknockt wird.

“I think it’s an awesome thing for the sport, it’s gonna bring a lot of publicity. I went to my first WWE match this year and the enthusiasm and emotion on the fans faces, it was like they were watching real fighting in the UFC. I do have a respect for the influence of the WWE and the passion of the fans. I found it awesome to watch for myself and the audience. At the same time it would be a bad thing only because every day I’m at the gym watching these kids training. These guys have no money and they’re training their tails off, giving up everything to be a fighter. Living in the gym, eating turkey and peanut butter, bare minimum to chase this dream and then a superstar like him just gets to jump into the UFC just because he knows the right people and has a name. I just think it’s unfair for the people who have been working their tails off to earn this opportunity. That’s why I really hope UFC gives him a real opponent so we can watch him get knocked out.”

“This guy doesn’t just have a chance, he’s gonna kick somebody’s ass. I think he’ll do very well. I don’t think he’s trying to make a 10-year career out of this. But he’s going to shake things up, whoop some ass and prove a lot of people wrong. I expect him to do very well against whoever they put up against him.

I think most MMA fighters don’t have any kind of ground. Most of them aren’t good at all. Even in the UFC. There are plenty of exceptions, but when I say most, I mean more than 50 percent are nothing more than OK blue belts on the ground. I would rate CM Punk definitely above that.”

Anthony Pettis sagte nun ueber CM Punk:“He hasn’t trained with the team yet. He’s doing private lessons with Duke and my jiu-jitsu coach. We don’t want to scare him away. But I’m not discrediting him because he’s definitely a great athlete. It’s just when it comes to MMA you’ve got to put it all together. His striking is going to need some improvement. His jiu-jitsu is getting improvement. He’s going to get improvement everywhere with the team, but we just want to take it slow, and he agrees.”

UFC Chairman und CEO Lorenzo Fertitta sagte nun ueber einen moeglichen ersten Gegner von CM Punk:“It’s not just going to be some guy off the street. It’s going to be somebody who is a professional mixed martial artist – certainly somebody who MMA media will recognize and know.”

Fertitta sagte weiterhin das sie wahrscheinlich jemand suchen der momentan nicht unter UFC Vertrag steht. Ganz interessant auch: UFC Matchmaker Joe Silva soll eine Liste von moeglichen Gegnern vorlegen, und Fertitta wird dann mit Dana White entscheiden wer es sein wird.

Bin mal gespannt welchen vollkommen fertigen Typen sie da in den Ring reinkarren. Mit MMA hat das natürlich nix zu tun. Ich glaub so ne freak fight Nummer hat sich nichtmal Pride FC getraut, da musst man zumindest schon mal 1-2 mma fights ÜBERHAUPT mal gehabt haben. Da erscheint einem selbst das Randy Couture vs James Toney Match wie ein Top Match 8-) .
